What is process mining, and what does it reveal about the ERP?

It reconstructs the process as it actually happened, from the record the system already produces. It shows the real path — including the deviations nobody documented.

Does this replace the conversation with the people running the process?

No. Process mining shows the path and where it deviates; the conversation explains why. The two together are the cross-check — either one alone shows half the answer.

What kind of deviation does it find that nobody reports?

The deviation that became routine and stopped looking like a deviation. When every case of a given type passes through the same extra step, unrecorded in the official process, it isn’t exceptional any more — it’s the real process, unnamed.

Does this require write access to the ERP?

No. The analysis is run on an export of the record the system already produces — read only, never writing to a client system. It’s the same guarantee that applies to any other data in the cycle, described in Declarations.

Which tool does Zthex use?

PM4Py, the open-source reference tool for process mining — described in the glossary, along with the rest of the method’s vocabulary.

Process mining asks nobody and doesn’t flinch at discomfort. It’s the coldest of the three sources — and for that reason the most useful for checking the other two.
